Juneteenth South Broward Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The 10th Anniversary Juneteenth South Broward Parade and Festival will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Hollywood, Florida. Founded by community advocate Georgette Lasley, the event has grown over a decade from a small local procession into a major South Florida celebration commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.Event Details

Date and Time: Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Parade Route: The parade starts at Butler’s Temple (5701 Flagler Street), heads south to Fletcher Street, proceeds to 56th Avenue, then to Washington Street, and ends at the Washington Park Community Center.

Festival Location: Festivities will continue throughout the day at the Washington Park Community Center following the parade.
Festival Activities
The celebration includes a variety of cultural and family-oriented activities:

Competitions: An inaugural Sweet Potato Pie Contest with a $1,000 grand prize, and youth basketball three-point shootouts with cash prizes of $200 and $300.

Entertainment: Live cultural performances, entertainment, and a petting zoo.

Family & Community: Food and merchandise vendors, family-friendly activities, community resources, and giveaways.

Amenities: VIP seating and hospitality areas.
Community Impact
The event is supported by Sweeteheartz Community Cafe, a nonprofit operated by Lasley for roughly 15 years. This organization provides various community services, such as free weekday breakfasts for approximately 170 seniors, veterans outreach, and school supply drives.Contact Information
