Hollywood Beach Celebrates 20th Annual Groundhog Day Cold Plunge

The 20th annual Groundhog Day celebration is on along Hollywood Beach. City spokeswoman Joann Hussey says people are gathering at the beach near Indiana Street to take a cold ocean plunge at the same time Punxsutawney Phil makes his prediction. She thinks the water temperature will be around 77-degrees. Participants will make a fifteen-dollar donation with proceeds benefiting the Hollywood Beach Lifeguard Competition Team. The competition is to crown the most elite lifeguard in Hollywood through a series of races like running, swimming, paddleboarding and rescuing.
