Celebrate World Art Deco Day and the Centennial of the Art Deco Movement at WMODA
Join us for a sensational weekend celebrating the art, style, and history of the Art Deco movement at WMODA (The Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts) on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, 2025. This event will honor both World Art Deco Day and the centennial anniversary of the movement that changed the world of design and architecture.
The Art Deco movement, which emerged from the 1925 Paris World’s Fair of decorative art, introduced a new, bold international design style. Characterized by streamlined, geometric patterns, vibrant colors, and luxurious materials, Art Deco reflected a fascination with modernity, industrial progress, and machine-made objects. It became one of the most influential design styles of the early 20th century and continues to inspire designers today.
What to Expect:Throughout the weekend, WMODA will host a series of captivating events highlighting the Fired Arts, including special morning and afternoon sessions led by expert speakers in the field of Art Deco. These sessions will provide in-depth insights into the history, design principles, and lasting impact of the Art Deco movement. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about iconic pieces of Art Deco design, as well as the materials and techniques that set the style apart.
Whether you’re an Art Deco aficionado or simply curious about the movement’s enduring influence, these sessions are a fantastic way to dive deeper into the world of decorative arts. You’ll also have the chance to explore the museum’s stunning collection of Art Deco pieces, many of which are featured in its permanent exhibitions.
