The city’s Technical Advisory Committee will consider expansion plans for Memorial Regional Hospital at 3501 Johnson Street on May 6. The new eight-story tower would be just north of the existing eight-story tower and include a new patient drop-off area on Hospital Drive, near where the Starbucks is located.
Based on the preliminary site plan, the first floor of the new building would include an outpatient clinic, a lobby and a gift shop. There would be 23 surgery rooms and 53 post-op recovery rooms on the second floor. The third floor would include a pharmacy, conference room, sim labs, and a rehabilitation facility. The next five floors would have 30 patient beds each, for a total of 150 beds.
Currently, Memorial Regional Hospital has 486 beds.
